Coronavirus In India LIVE Updates: India has entered the third week of its 21-day nationwide lockdown imposed by the Centre to reduce the spread of the coronavirus in the country. With 354 fresh cases, the virus has infected 4421 people in the country. Countrywide death toll has climbed to 114. The number of recovered patients stands at 326. As per sources, several state governments have approached the Centre with request to extend the lockdown. The Centre is considering the request of state governments and advise of experts on extending the lockdown beyond April 14, sources said.

Government has been adopting a strategy for cluster containment and for outbreaks that are amenable to management. This strategy is producing positive results, especially in Agra, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Pathanamthitta, Bhilwara & East Delhi.

Indian Railways has prepared 40,000 isolation beds in 2,500 coaches. They are making 375 isolation beds daily and this is going on across 133 locations across the country.

We took immediate precautions in Rajasthan to control Covid-19 from the beginning. Held meetings with all political parties, doctors, Army, IAF, railway, CRPF, CISF and medical universities. We've somewhat managed to keep cases under control,though they are still coming.

We've made control rooms at state level for monitoring. I'm also personally monitoring. Screened 5 crore people out of around 7.50 crore population. 15,000 tests have been done in different districts. Rs 25 crore incentive planned for doctors and health workers.

Jamaati corona patient escapes from UP hospital

Baghpat : 65-year-old corona positive patient, who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat meeting in Delhi last month, escaped from the hospital on Tuesday after breaking the glass pane and cutting the wire mesh on the window. He used his clothes to form a rope and scale down the building. Safid Miyan, a resident of Sursuri in Nepal, had been quarantined after he was found to be a member of the Jamaat. He had tested positive for the coronavirus on Friday and was undergoing treatment at the primary health centre in Khekhra. Safid Miyan was a part of a group of 17 people from Nepal, who had attended the Delhi Tablighi Jamaat gathering.

India to allow supply of Hydroxychloroquine, Paracetamol to neighbours, badly affected countries

In view of the humanitarian aspects of Covid-19 pandemic, it has been decided that India would licence paracetamol & Hydroxychloroquine in appropriate quantities to all our neighbouring countries who are dependent on our capabilities, Ministry of External Affairs said.

We will also be supplying these essential drugs to some nations who have been particularly badly affected by the pandemic. We would therefore discourage any speculation in this regard or any attempts to politicise the matter, the MEA said.

Tablighi Jamaat attendees defecate in Narela quarantine center

In a fresh case of misconduct, Tablighi Jamaat members in Narela quarantine station reportedly defecated inside the hospital. Two attendees of the Nizamuddin Markaz event, were found defecating in the corridor of the hospital. This comes after the reports ofJamaatis’ misconduct with nurses and spitting at hospital staff. An FIR has been registered.
Trump Hints At Retaliation If India Doesn't Send Hydroxychloroquine

US President Donald Trump on Monday hinted at a possible retaliation if India does not lift its hold on the export of Hydroxychloroquine, the anti-malaria drug used in the treatment of coronavirus patients. Trump speaking from the White House during the Coronavirus taskforce briefing said that India does very well with the US and he sees no reason why India would not lift the hold on the US order of the medicine. He said, ‘didn't hear that that was his (Modi) decision. I know that he stopped it for other countries I spoke to him yesterday, very very good talk, and we'll see whether or not that stays I wouldn't be surprised if he would you know because India's does very well with the United States.’ Trump said that during his recent phone call with Modi, the latter had said he will consider the request of releasing the order to the US. The US President added, ‘so I wouldn't be surprised if that was a decision he'd have to tell me that I spoke to him Sunday morning I called him and I said we'd appreciate your allowing our supply to come out. If he doesn't allow it to come out, he doesn't allow it to come out, that would be okay, but of course, there may be retaliation, why wouldn't there be?’

Congress Welcomes Cut In MPs' Grants

Congress has supported the reduction in allowances of members of Parliament and pensions of ex-MPs for one year by the government to augment funds for the battle against coronavirus, but criticised suspension of MPLAD (local area development) funds as 'a huge disservice to the constituents'.

Union cabinet approved the ordinance amending the Salary, Allowances and Pension of Members of Parliament Act, 1954, reducing allowances and pension by 30 per cent from April 1 for a year.
KCR Urges PM Modi To Extend Lockdown Beyond April 14

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to extended the nationwide Coronavirus lockdown beyong April 14 as number of positive cases and death toll continue to surge acorss the country.

As per reports, lockdown in Kerala will continue even after April 14 -- till June 3, said the Telangana Chief Minister's Office.

As per ANI, which quoted the CMO's clarification, Rao had suggested that the lockdown be extended for 2 more weeks (after April 15). Reportedly he took a reference from a BCG report which suggested lockdown in India will be good until June 3.
Mumbai recorded four new Covid-19 deaths - all males - and the number of positive cases increased by 57, the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said here on Monday. This has taken Mumbai's total toll to 34, and the number of positive cases to 490 till date.

While 150 suspected cases were admitted, five who are fully cured have been discharged from hospitals. The four who passed away are aged 41, 52, 62 and 80, and had been admitted to various Mumbai hospitals.

It was a black day in India's fight against the spread of coronavirus cases, as 693 new cases were found in 24 hours - the highest number in a day recorded so far, taking the total count to 4,067. Kejriwal said that the Delhi government aims to give ration to 10 lakh such people and will take more food grains from the Centre if need arises.

Coronavirus cases reach 523 in Delhi, with 20 fresh cases being reported in the last 24 hours including 10 attendees of Tablighi Jamaat event in Nizamuddin. One person died of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, total deaths stand at 7. 25 patients are on ventilators.

Out of the total number of cases, 330 people are linked to Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi. Around 1000 samples of are being tested for COVID-19 daily.

693 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total number to 4067 in India out of which 1445 cases are related to Jablighi Jamaat. 76 per cent cases have been reported in males and 24 per cent in females.

Number of COVID-19 deaths stand at 109, with 30 people succumbing to it yesterday. 63 per cent of the deaths have been reported among people over 60 years age, 30 per cent in age bracket of 40 to 60 years and 7 per cent victims were below 40 years age.

PM Modi today in interaction with Central Ministers via video conference-

PM said that the continuous feedback provided by Ministers has been effective in strategizing for tackling COVID-19.

Stating that lockdown measures&social distancing must go hand in hand, PM said that it's essential to strategize for emergent conditions once lockdown ends.

PM asked Ministers to prepare a list of 10 major decisions and 10 priority areas of focus once lockdown ends.

Uttar Pradesh: Lockdown may be extended with COVID-19 cases surging

With the number of Covid-19 patients rising and about to cross the 300 mark in UP, the Yogi Adityanath government is now reviewing its decision of lifting the lockdown on April 15.

'There is still time for the lockdown and we will review the situation and then decide,' he said.
